Bagr
Rock

The band Bagr is a local legend from Třebíč, representing 34 years of band's history. Today's line-up is made of young musicians, there are no founding members anymore, but the name Bagr (meaning: Excavator) remains the same. It should represent then-music style: a rumbling heavy machine.
During their carreer, the band has played with the most popular Czech rock and pop-rock bands. One of their songs was aired in the East-European BBC broadcasting, too - a BBC reporter came to our country in 1992 and he was enchanted by the atmosphere and this band, so he bought a cassette and put their music on air. The Czech film actress Eva Vejmělková appeared in the band's video to the song Jméno Eva (meaning: Eva's Name). Bagr performs at the Happy Faces Festival on Friday.

Petr Bende
Pop-rock

Petr Bende is known from the singing contest Česko hledá SuperStar 2005 (Czech Idol 2005) where he placed second. He has not only singing, but also songwriting ability, so he created his own pop-rock repertoire and found his true fans. People like him for his nice and modest attitude.
He released a few albums and he plays a lot of concerts around our country. He has also performed abroad a few times (Austria, France, Switzerland). He likes folklore and its typical instrument - dulcimer, so his music was influenced by this music genre in the past, too. He will perform at the Happy Faces Festival on Saturday and we're sure it will be a special concert for him because it's his "home region".

ELFENTHAL - John Kelly a Maite Itoiz
Folk, pop, rock

ELFENTHAL is a solo project of John Kelly (a member of the legendary Irish family band The Kelly Family) and his wife Maite Itoiz, a Spanish opera soprano, guitar player and producer. ELFENTHAL as a band includes two projects - one of them is a rock opera ensemble (a live band, a theatrical performance, solo vocal performances of both main singers John and Maite), the other one is an ensemble that plays old, ancient music.
John Kelly and Maite Itoiz are coming to the Happy Faces Festival as a duo to present together a brand new show called A Thousand Years. It will be a selection of the best of those both ELFENTHAL project and be sure to hear some of the Kelly Family hits. ELFENTHAL is the headliner of Friday's programme.

Element
Funk'N'Roll

Element is a young band from Opava. In their own words: "We play a rough funk'n'roll evoking the gloom of Sudeten's meadows, buildings and nature. We consider ourselves a band creating its own original songs with Czech lyrics that describe a lot of things from everyday's stories to serious human's questions."
In 2017 they released an 5-tracks-EP. They will perform a the Happy Faces Festival on Friday.

The Four Elements
Punk-rock

The Four Elements is a punk-rock band from Uničov. Its name refers to the four elements - earth, water, air, fire. The band is more popular since 2014 because at that time they started to appear at various events and festivals more often.
In 2017 they released a video to the song Sám sebou (meaning: I'm myself) and the album Jiní nikdy nebudeme! (meaning: We will never change!) And what do you think, are the single members like the four different elements on stage? Just come and check this. They will perform at the Happy Faces Festival on Saturday.

Lenka "Lo" Hrůzová
Alternative rock

Lenka "Lo" Hrůzová started her music carreer as the singer of the band Kauflant (the name is a parody of the well-known supermarket). Many people know her as the winner of the singing contest Hlas ČeskoSlovenska 2014 (The Voice of Czecho-Slovakia). She managed to win the hearts of people by her wide ranged and original timbre voice, her striking physical appearance and the complicated story of her life.
Her contest coach Josef Vojtek, the singer of our popular rock band Kabát, helped her even after the end of the contest - she was the band's guest at one of their biggest concerts at Prague-Vypich in autumn 2014. Her another success is the song Neodchádzaj (meaning: Don't Leave) - a collaboration with the legendary Slovak rock band Elán. Nowadays, Lenka is the singer of the band LoGarytmy and she plays concerts around our country. She will perform at the Happy Faces Festival on Saturday.

Jaroslav Hutka
Folk

Jaroslav Hutka is a Czech folk legend and a civil rights activist. His life has been full of various musical and civic activities: he's the founder of the folk association Šafrán, he popularised Moravian folklore songs, he's a singer-songwriter, the autor of the song Náměšť about freedom, faith and truth (anthem of a festival forbidden by the Communist regime), he signed the Charter 77 document (against the violation of human rights), had to emigrate to Netherlands and came back shortly after the Velvet Revolution in 1989, performed on the same day at an event of the political movement Občanské fórum (Civil Forum)... It's important to speak about his musical carreer and his civic activities together because his songs have always strongly reflected the political affairs and his own attitude. It remains this way - Hutka has found enough courage to criticize some shortcomings of the after-revolutional political development.
Jaroslav Hutka still performs in clubs, publishes his feuilletons, releases his CDs on his own - he burns them and draws their booklets and sells them on his concerts. He will perform at the Happy Faces Festival on Saturday as one of the most significant artists.

Jaksi Taksi

Since then they have released rather various singles - Selfie (2014), Show (during the tour with another Czech popular rock band, Harlej, 2015), Nashledanou (meaning: Bye Bye, 2015), EU-ROPA (about Europe's current problems, 2015), Léto (meaning: Summer, a parody of bands who are trying to make a summer hit too much). Finally, in 2017 they released an album again; it's name is OffLine. They will perform at the Happy Faces Festival on Friday.

Lunetic

They are considered to be the first Czech boyband. Their first hit was the song Máma (meaning: Mom), they made several more hits and gained huge popularity mainly with young girls. They were also hosts of the most popular TV chart show ESO (meaning: Ace) for some time. In 2003 they went on a hiatus.
They started to play again after five years and they still play concerts around our country. Their repertoire is more mature today (related to the age - all of them are aged 30-40 today) and it's more pop-rocky. They will perform at the Happy Faces Festival on Friday.
